“Two years ago, the Central Intelligence Agency announced it was creating a center to analyze the geopolitical ramifications of “phenomena such as desertification, rising sea levels, population shifts and heightened competition for natural resources.” But whatever work the Center on Climate Change and National Security has done remains secret.” From Wired: Threat Level.
People in this world truly love money. The acquisition of money is an addiction for a huge portion of the population today. 1% of the people have 40% of the world’s money. Either they are smart, lucky, or completely addicted to a number. I pine for it often because I don’t have much to my name—in fact, I am very much in debt. This thing called money mostly exists in computers today. That is where my debt exists. A complex system of servers sending money around the world.
I will propose something to you, something you may be uncomfortable with at first. A statement that will challenge most of your societal views… Money does not exist. Try eating a dollar sometime. Will it nourish you? Nope. It is made of cloth, not many calories there. You could make a pile of dollars or pounds or euros, and you could set it on fire to heat food, but it will never fuel your body. Its a construct, a representation of wealth. You can’t be a better person by having more money, you can’t take money or anything you buy with it with you when you die. We have to wake up from the American Dream. It has become a nightmare.
This whole economic crisis is completely unnecessary. Money doesn’t need to control us. We could be beyond this, living in a world where people are truly free to do what they want to do. No longer would our society be limited by what they can afford. Inner city children would no longer starve, instead they could flourish. They could go to college and completely improve their situation, no longer limited by money, only limited by their own dreams and ambitions. Sounds nice, doesn’t it?
“Can’t buy me love.”
“Tea Party people” aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.” - Ron Shiller
